Nubar Violet Spakle Part 2, a matching purse and background music (pic heavy)

Hey there :)

Violet sparkle wore like iron to me (the 4th day and no/almost invisible tipwear, only the "growing" out line near the cuticles)- their Diamont topcoat is really awesome considering all the layers I used and the two additional two coats of diamont.
I've already showed you some swatches of Violet Sparkle and went shopping today and found a matching purse at Claire's to go with- yes, you can say that they are dupes/duplicates (is there another word for it? if yes, drop it in the comments) in colour. And the best thing was: they had a -15% off everything (well, almost everything- they didn't counted the clearance things). Anyway- they also had a black version of the purse and I couldn't choose which one to buy so I bought both ^^. The black one reminded me of a Franken I made quite a while ago- which reminds me to wear my frankens more often, but that's another story.

Let's move on to the pictures:
See? a perfect match ^^
I also played a bit with the light-settings of my camera and those are the results:
See how blingy the black one is? :D
If you click on the pic you can see the light-blue glitter
And here one where you can see the magenta glitter in the purple purse.

That's the first time I've bought something polish-related and I'm really happy with both purses and can't wait to find/buy other things which are polish-related where it's not expected to.

If you've made it till here you've probably wondered why I've written backround music in the topic title: while I' writing this post I was listening to Invincible by Muse and thought to share it with you because I simply love the band and can't wait for them to come to Austria :). (It's one of their more romatic, pop songs and better skip it if you'd like but I love the video which reminds me a lot of  the ride "It's a small World" in Disney Land)

Nubar Violet Sparkle

Hey there :)

This is the last polish Karl from petras nail store sent me to review and I want to thank them again for considering me to try them out :D.
Violet Sparkle- from their current Sparkle Collection and it looked really great on all the swatches I've seen. It is a medium-toned purple/eggplant colored glitter with lighter, magenta-ish glitter in a clear base. It looks really exciting in the bottle and I was eager to try it out. And now I did and wow I love it, the only downside is that it took 3 fairly thick coats to get it opaque. I love it that it gets a depth in lower lights because then you can see the magenta-ish glitter poping out and doing a "who's got the most bling-contest" on their own ^^.
The drying time was ok- not really fast, not really slow (considering 3 coats).

Now to the pictures: They all show 3 coats of Violet Sparkle, 2 coats Nubar Diamont and 1 coat basecoat.

(There are polish in this post who were sent to me to review, however it didn't affect my oppinion, see my disclosure policy at the bottom for more information about it)

Essie Sexy Divide aka one of the polishes I like more on the pics or in lower lights

Hey there :)

This may be the longest blog title I've written so far ^^ Anywho- Sexy Divide.... I loved it when I first saw some swatches of it and of course the inner purple-lover wanted it. I gave in, bought it and wore it but somehow it wasn't love at first sight... I liked it more in lower lights because somehow then it gets a depth which can only be seen then. The color is a middle-toned purple with a light(really light) duo-chrome effect in the bottle from magenta to an eggplant-purple. The opacity was good- 2 coats till there was no visible nail line and the brush was ok- not as awesome as the Nubar's brush or Opi pro wide brush.
Somehow the pics also show a "glow" which I recognize now, I should pay more attention to it when I wear it the next time.

As most purples- it is not as blue-tones as it appeares here (and sorry about the pre-clean up pics)

OPI Absolutely Alice (pic spam and some bonus pics)

Hey there :)

You may have seen a lot of swatch-posts about this polish- if you are sick of it, you may only want to take a look at the two last pics ^^.

Absolutely Alice- a stunning polish, packed with light blue and gold glitter in a clear base. It took two fairly thick coats for me to reach the full opacity and luckily it dried quite quickly. I'm somehow avoiding to remove it because I know it'll take a while to remove it even with the little (artificial) nail polish remover jars. I guess that's the price for such a great varnish that we have to pay ^^.

Let's take a look at the pics the pics:
Now to the bonus pics- my most favourite necklace at the moment (because I love NY and will definitly go back there some time)
And what is a necklace without matching earrings? Yes, nothing so here they are(I'm somehow a bit paranoid about of losing one). The heart of the button-like earrings look like sequins, you can see it better if you click on them:
Oh and before I forget: Happy Earth Day :D

Nubar Prize: Layering Experiments Part 2 (pic heavy)

Hey there :)

As I wrote yesterday that I haven't found the "perfect" red tone to layer under Prize I went through my stash and found a Frankenpolish I did quite a while ago: Ruthy.
I really like the result of the layering- it makes Prize more royal-red toned which I like more than the original magenta-colour.

The pictures show 2 coats Ruthy and one coat Prize on the nails I did the layering, 2 coats of Prize where I only painted Prize.

(a little pic of the background while I was taking the pics- me watching The Simpsons ^^)

Nubar Prize: Layering experiments (pic heavy)

Hey there :)

As I wrote yesterday I wasn't that fond of the colour so I thought it'll be perfect for layering. The pinknes of the polish was a bit too strong for my taste so I layered it over Opi's Thanks so Muches. In comparison I like it that way better than the original colour but I think I still have to find a red that's a tad darker to be fully satisfied.
The two fingers with only Prize were two coats, the other two were one coat of each polish.
Also the following pictures show the same pattern- was simply to lazy to write them on each picture (also no topcoat this time).

Nubar Prize

Hey there :)

Today I'm going to show you another polish I got to review from Karl of PetrasNailStore. It's Prize by Nubar from their Prism Collection. It is a red with a hint of pink in it aka magenta. I wasn't very keen of the colour but I think it would be perfect for layering with the right polish ;). Somehow I like it more in the pictures than in real life.. strange, I know ^^.
The application and drying time was great, the brush- as all the Nubar's I've tried till today, excellent-not too wide and not too tiny. I didn't had any problems with the formula and the pictures below show two coats (no topcoat because I was in a hurry& the drying time was awesome :D )
Sadly, I can't show you sun-pictures- the weather was terrible when I did the swatches and the holographic glitter is even more rainbow-y in person.
(I was not paid to write this review, it represents my honest opinion about this product)

And the winner is....

I just draw the winner with the hat program and it was really fun to play with :D
Look at the adorable desktop icon :

So drumroll please.....

And the winner is

Yay- it's Diana from paintedladyfingers :D I love reading her blog and she has creative ways to draw her winners for her giveaways. So congratulations :D

Nubar Passionate Purple aka. my love for purples goes on (pic heavy)

Hey there :)

Hope you're all doing allright. It's been raining for four days now and today seems to be a almost sunny day- yay :D.
So today I'm going to show you Nubar Passionate Purple. I love the name and to me it fits the colour perfectly. A dark purple with great red and blue shimmer in it when the sun hits it. It may look almost-black in lower lights but somehow I didn't mind it this time because in normal/indirect sunlight somehow I got the feeling it has a life on its own ^^.
The application was great as always like all the Nubars I own and was opaque in two coats.

Direct Sunlight- you can see the hints of the shimmer here :D
It was dawn and getting darker and darker- but you can still see the "glow"

Layering Love: Color Club Groove Thang + China Glaze Nova+ Essence Glitter Topper Shiny Star

Hey there :)

As you can see at the topic title above it's another layering manicure :). Somehow I've got way to many almost-black polishes. So today's NOTD I'll show you is China Glaze Nova and Essence Glitter Topper layered over Color Club Groove Thang. Groove Thang is a gorgeous colour in the bottle but sadly it's a bit too pigmented that the colour you see on your nails is a black. The actual colour is only seen in direct sunlight- kinda dark purple with a green duo-chrome effect in some angles. Nova is a gorgeous layering polish- a lot of different sized glitter(round&square ones)- a bit chunkier in a clear base. I don't have the exact name of the Essence Polish because I bought it a while back and the letters on the bottle litteraly fell of (see the below pic ;) ) and only the lable on the top "survived". I believe they've re-released it in one of their Nail Art Twins but with a different name.

(see the black "things" on the bottom of the bottle? those were supposed to be letters)
and of course a flash pic- to see it's holographic awesomenes(plus I love the reflection on my floor):

Unlike Nova the Essence polish hasn't got as many glitter in it. In fact I only picked up a few of those and did only an accent nail. Maybe I should've done it the other way round so the removal would've been easier ;)
The application was great on all 3 polishes- Groove Thang needed 2 coats 'till full coverage and I did 1 coat each of Nova & the Essence one.
Here are the pics:
