Borghese Mediterraneo Sea

When I first saw swatches of this polish, I wasn't really impressed by it. But after a "picture-spam" over at the nailboard on makeupalley, I had the urge to own this polish.
Mediterraneo Mare Sea (somehow it irks me that the only used one Italian and one English word.. really strange) is a sheer blue jelly with glitter. The glitter in it is mostly silver, but there is yellow, pink possibly orange and green. It dries matte and to a rather gritty finish.
When the big hype about matte nail polishes was here, I didn't really liked the look on my nails, but I loved this polish even more when it was matte and not glossy!
The application was good, it had a nice wide brush and I painted two coats on my middle finger to see how it looks.
I layered it over Nubar Night Sparkle.

one coat on each finger, no topcoat/eine Schicht auf allen Fingern, kein Überlack

Nubar Night Sparkle, revised

I showed you Nubar Night Sparkle quite some time ago but those pictures were craptastic, so this time I'll show you better pictures of it :)
Night Sparkle was released about two years ago and it's still a favourite of mine. The color is a navy blue (the sun washed out the color- boo!) and it's packed with glitter of the same color. It dries to a semi-matte and gritty finish. In terms of opacity, it's a one coat wonder, which means it only needs one coat to be opaque. I used two coats tough, to give it a little more depth. The brush was impeccable, wide and spread out nicely.

Nubar Reclaim, at last!

This is a scheduled post, I'm gonna be away for this week...
Holo-lovers surely know this polish, but for those of you who haven't stumble upon this beauty, hope you'll enjoy it :)
Nubar Reclaim is a seafoam green with a "stronger" linear holo effect, which is similar to the ones from the OMG Collection by China Glaze. Probably not as strong as a Nfu.Oh Holo or Gosh Holographic but still pretty awesome.
The application was good, I used the Aqua Base (by Nfu.Oh) as my basecoat and Reclaim took two coats to be opaque. The wear was like a regular holo- not too good like a regular creme/jelly polish tough, but still looking ok after 2-3 days.
Anyway, here are the pictures :)

Spicing up Nubar Navy Blue

After I finished my manicure with Nubar Navy Blue, I thought it was still a bit on the boring side so I pulled out two polishes from my stash that are great for layering. Pure Ice Rio and Heart Breaker. Both of them are sheer shimmer polishes, which makes them great for layering.
Rio has a pink base but the shimmer turns purple and leans a bit blue at some angles. Heart Breaker is a blue base polish with green shimmer, much like the shimmer version of Essence's Glisten Up (sadly, it's discontinued now). I really liked how the base color of Navy Blue still showed up when it hits the sun.

Pleaase excuse the weird pictures, when I finally had the chance to take the pictures, I banged my middle finger at my car and a big chunk of my nail broke off.

Nubar Navy Blue

After my last dissapointment with Nubar, I found a shade that is growing on me. Navy Blue, is, as the name implides, a Navy Blue. It's really gorgeous but I have to admit, I love such shades- dark, but not too dark that it's a black in lower lights.
The formula was ok, a bit on the thick side but nothing a thinner can't fix. Even with the thick consistency, it was still opaque in two coats.

Nubar Purple Rain Glitter with a special tower

This is another polish of my awesome swap-package with mrsrexy. I really love Nubar polishes but I can't really say that I love this one. It's mainly because I was more in love with the (false) blue versions of it because the camera decides to picture it that way (most purples are a PITA to photograph color-accurate).
Anyway, Purple Rain Glitter was probably one of the first Nubar polishes I've had on my wihslist but always was replaced by other beauties when it came to buying/swapping for it.
PRG is, as the name implides, a purple base packed with magenta glitter, which also happen to be holographic. In the bottle it doesn't look that attractive because all the glitter is stuck on the side of the bottle. For a glitter, the application and the drying time was incredibly fast and the finish was not gritty at all!
It took 2 coats to be opaque. Because the manicure was quite underwhelming, I wanted to add something to it and reached into my "untried" konad-drawer and pulled out the Soft Stamping Plate by ENAS.
A Soft Stamping Plate is a Image Plate where the rubber stamp is already integrated and you don't even need a scraper for it, a piece of paper will do. If you'd like to read more about it, here's the link to the ENAS site.
If you need any more information, hit me in the comment section or I can write a seperate post about it.

the accurate picture of PRG, sadly, not as pretty as the inaccurate ones/ PRG, wie er wirklich ausschaut, schade, dass die inakkuraten Bilder besser ausschauen
a ring which I finally found /DER Ring, nachdem ich lange gesucht hab ;)

Nubar Peacock Feathers

Hey there :)

So today's NOTD is a Duo/multi-chrome classic, Nubar's Peacock Feathers. It's green, it's purple, it's blurple, hints of gold,...
Not to mention it's one of my favourite shades by Nubar? Application was good, tough a bit runny. I used two coats. The brush is great and I toped it with Nubar Diamont instead of my current Seche Vite (which btw, I try to use up and go back to my old beloved Sally Hansen Insta Dry).

Behold, the beauty of Peacock Feathers

Gunmetal/black with silver shimmer comparison part 2

Hey there :)

I wrote in my previous post that I do love these kind of shades and probably have at least 8-10 dupeish/similar colors (which also means part 3 and 4 for you guys ;).

The polishes I used are
  • Nubar - Dark Castle
  • Maybelline - City Slicks (Thanks Andrea :D )
  • P2 - Spacy
I used one awesome coat of each polish and love them all ^^. Dark Castle and City Slicks are almost twins- only the base of Dark Castle is a big darker- both have a foil finish (which you can see in the blurred pic). Whereas Spacy is a black with a dark silver shimmer (and subtle teal glitter in it which isn't visible in person). I didn't had any issues with them- but somehow I loved the smell of City Slicks the most *inhales 3F fumes*.

In honor of the "great" weather here: Gunmetal/black with silver shimmer comparisons

Hey there :)

The weather here was really crappy- windy, raining in the evening and cold as it'll be winter. *grr*
I did these swatches a while ago when  the weather was better than it is now and I had nubbins. The polishes I used are:
  • Nubar Dark Castle (one awesome coat)
  • Zoya Raven (2 coats)
  • H&M Moonless Night (also two coats)
  • Alessandro No.279 (Be a Star LE, 2 coats)
  • Artdeco* No. 133 (2 coats)
* Artdeco is a German cosmetics brand.
I applied them in the same order as I wrote above-I didn't had any problems with either of these polishes- neither with their consistency nor the brushes. But I have to admit I love the brushes from Nubar and Artdeco the most- great handle and a wider brush which is soft but not too soft that you get too much laquer on the surounding skin.
Here are some previous swatches of Dark Castle if you missed them.
The color: Raven is the darkest with the slightest shimmer of all of them, next would probably Artdeco, Nubar and H&M. The Alessandro one was the lightest and more a dark silver than a black with shimmer/gunmetal. They only had the silver shimmer and I have to say: I love them, I can't get enough of them and still keep buying them ^^.
Bottlepics :D

(please excuse the pre-cleanup pics, it was just a quick swatch session)

Nubar Violet Spakle Part 2, a matching purse and background music (pic heavy)

Hey there :)

Violet sparkle wore like iron to me (the 4th day and no/almost invisible tipwear, only the "growing" out line near the cuticles)- their Diamont topcoat is really awesome considering all the layers I used and the two additional two coats of diamont.
I've already showed you some swatches of Violet Sparkle and went shopping today and found a matching purse at Claire's to go with- yes, you can say that they are dupes/duplicates (is there another word for it? if yes, drop it in the comments) in colour. And the best thing was: they had a -15% off everything (well, almost everything- they didn't counted the clearance things). Anyway- they also had a black version of the purse and I couldn't choose which one to buy so I bought both ^^. The black one reminded me of a Franken I made quite a while ago- which reminds me to wear my frankens more often, but that's another story.

Let's move on to the pictures:
See? a perfect match ^^
I also played a bit with the light-settings of my camera and those are the results:
See how blingy the black one is? :D
If you click on the pic you can see the light-blue glitter
And here one where you can see the magenta glitter in the purple purse.

That's the first time I've bought something polish-related and I'm really happy with both purses and can't wait to find/buy other things which are polish-related where it's not expected to.

If you've made it till here you've probably wondered why I've written backround music in the topic title: while I' writing this post I was listening to Invincible by Muse and thought to share it with you because I simply love the band and can't wait for them to come to Austria :). (It's one of their more romatic, pop songs and better skip it if you'd like but I love the video which reminds me a lot of  the ride "It's a small World" in Disney Land)

Nubar Violet Sparkle

Hey there :)

This is the last polish Karl from petras nail store sent me to review and I want to thank them again for considering me to try them out :D.
Violet Sparkle- from their current Sparkle Collection and it looked really great on all the swatches I've seen. It is a medium-toned purple/eggplant colored glitter with lighter, magenta-ish glitter in a clear base. It looks really exciting in the bottle and I was eager to try it out. And now I did and wow I love it, the only downside is that it took 3 fairly thick coats to get it opaque. I love it that it gets a depth in lower lights because then you can see the magenta-ish glitter poping out and doing a "who's got the most bling-contest" on their own ^^.
The drying time was ok- not really fast, not really slow (considering 3 coats).

Now to the pictures: They all show 3 coats of Violet Sparkle, 2 coats Nubar Diamont and 1 coat basecoat.

(There are polish in this post who were sent to me to review, however it didn't affect my oppinion, see my disclosure policy at the bottom for more information about it)

Nubar Prize: Layering Experiments Part 2 (pic heavy)

Hey there :)

As I wrote yesterday that I haven't found the "perfect" red tone to layer under Prize I went through my stash and found a Frankenpolish I did quite a while ago: Ruthy.
I really like the result of the layering- it makes Prize more royal-red toned which I like more than the original magenta-colour.

The pictures show 2 coats Ruthy and one coat Prize on the nails I did the layering, 2 coats of Prize where I only painted Prize.

(a little pic of the background while I was taking the pics- me watching The Simpsons ^^)

Nubar Prize: Layering experiments (pic heavy)

Hey there :)

As I wrote yesterday I wasn't that fond of the colour so I thought it'll be perfect for layering. The pinknes of the polish was a bit too strong for my taste so I layered it over Opi's Thanks so Muches. In comparison I like it that way better than the original colour but I think I still have to find a red that's a tad darker to be fully satisfied.
The two fingers with only Prize were two coats, the other two were one coat of each polish.
Also the following pictures show the same pattern- was simply to lazy to write them on each picture (also no topcoat this time).

Nubar Prize

Hey there :)

Today I'm going to show you another polish I got to review from Karl of PetrasNailStore. It's Prize by Nubar from their Prism Collection. It is a red with a hint of pink in it aka magenta. I wasn't very keen of the colour but I think it would be perfect for layering with the right polish ;). Somehow I like it more in the pictures than in real life.. strange, I know ^^.
The application and drying time was great, the brush- as all the Nubar's I've tried till today, excellent-not too wide and not too tiny. I didn't had any problems with the formula and the pictures below show two coats (no topcoat because I was in a hurry& the drying time was awesome :D )
Sadly, I can't show you sun-pictures- the weather was terrible when I did the swatches and the holographic glitter is even more rainbow-y in person.
(I was not paid to write this review, it represents my honest opinion about this product)
