Picture Polish Kryptonite

Posting another green you say? I think this would not have been impossible for me when I started my blog, which probably only featured blue and purple polishes back then. Now I’m all about teals, greens and a few other colors :)
Picture Polish Kryptonite is one of their blogger-collaborations and probably by far my favourite. It is a green jelly with holo particles. The formula was great, as was the brush. Kryptonite was opaque with two coats.

Und sie schreibt schon wieder über eine grünen Nagellack? Wenn mir jemand, als ich den Blog angefangen hab, sagte, dass ich mal über grünen Nagellack schreiben würde, hätt ich ihm/ihr den Vogel gezeigt ;)
Picture Polish Kryptonite ist ein Lack, der in Zusammenarbeit mit Bloggern entstand bis jetzt der einzige, den ich unbedingt haben wollte. Der Pinsel und die Konsistenz waren gut und der Lack deckte schon mit zwei Schichten.

Jessica Disco Diva vs. Gosh Holographic

I'm a sucker for silver holos and couldn't wait to get my hands on the Jessica Hologram Chic Duo (consisting of Disco Diva (DD), the silver linear holographic shade and Retro Revival, their Aqua Base). I couldn't resist comparing it to Gosh Holographic and painted my ringfinger with Disco Diva.

Gosh Holographic ("good" version, before they discontinued it) is a middle toned silver holographic shade. The finish when you're in a room with poor lighting is almost chrome like, a metallic finish so to say. In comparison to Disco Diva it is darker. The holographic effect is stronger than DD . With an Aqua Base as your basecoat it is opaque with two coat or you might get away with one thicker coat.
Jessica Disco Diva is a lighter silver tone compared to Gosh Holo. I used three coats and it has a "finer" holographic effect and swatched side by side it looks like it is not as strong as the one by Gosh.
The difference between the two wasn't as pronounced if you look at it from a "distance".

Ich liebe silberne holorgaphische Nagellacke und konnte es kaum erwarten, das Hologram Chic Duo von Jessica in meinen Händen zu halten. Das Duo enthällt Disco Diva, der silberne holographische Nagellack und Retro Revival, die Aqua Base (der Unterlack für holographische Nagellacke). Ich konnte es nicht lassen, ihn mit Gosh Holographic zu vergleichen und habe meinen Ringfinger mit Disco Diva lackiert.

Gosh Holographic (die "gute" Version, bevor sie aus dem Sortiment kam) ist ein mittlerer silberner holographischer Nagellack. Das Finish des Lackes, wenn man ihn in einem Raum mit schlechter Belichtung betrachtet, ist schon fast wie ein Chrom-Finish, recht "metallisch". Im Vergleich zu Disco Diva ist er dünkler. Auch der holographische Effekt ist stärker als DD. Mit der Aqua Base als Unterlack ist er mit zwei dünnen oder einer dicken Schicht deckend.
Jessica Disco Diva ist ein heller Silberton im Vergleich zu Gosh Holo. Ich hab' drei Schichten benutzt, bis er deckte und die holographischen Partikeln waren "feiner" als der von Gosh.
Der Effekt zwischen den beiden Lacken war auch nicht so "stark", besonders wenn man ihn sich ein wenig weiter weg anschaut (war schon fast nicht mehr sichtbar, wenn man ihn nach einer "Armlänge" anschaute).

Glitter Gal Marine Blue

...or the curious case of an crackling Aqua Base. Marine Blue was one of the holographic Glitter Gals which I've been wanting for quite a long time. I splurged and ordered some but somehow this one wasn't as awesome as I imagined. Don't get me wrong, the color is nice and the holographic effect is always a plus in my book but somehow I didn't "feel it" while I was wearing it.
Anyway, Marine Blue is a medium toned, tough maybe not quite a marine blue, which is darker. With holographic nail polishes I always use the Aqua Base (a basecoat for holographic nail polishes) as my basecoat as it helps with the wear and the application. This time my Aqua Base started to crackle after it was dry which never happened to me before! I don't know why but it did and was quite a weird to have holographic nails with a crackled effect.
The application was ok, it was opaque with only one coat but used two on my ringfinger to see if the crackle effect would look any different and it did not eve out entirely :( .

Marine Blue ist einer der holographischen Glitter Gal Lacke, die ich schon seit langem haben wollte. Also hab ich mir dann ein paar bestellt und er war doch nicht so toll, wie ich es mir vorgestellt habe. Obwohl die Farbe schön und der holographische Effekt immer ein mögliches Kaufpotential für mich hat, war ich nicht sehr davon beeindruckt.
Die Farbe vom Marine Blue ist ein mittleres Blau, aber heller als der eigentliche Name, Marineblau.
Bei holographischen Nagellacken benutz ich immer die Aqua Base (ein Unterlack für Hololacke) als Unterlack, weil er die Tragezeit verlängert und der Auftrag damit besser wird. Seltsamerweise find dieser an, ein Muster wie ein Crackle-Lack zu bilden, als er dann trocken war, was mir noch nie passiert ist! Ich weiß nicht, wieso aber es war dennoch seltsam, einen holographischen Lack mit einem Cracklemuster zu tragen.
Der Auftrag war ganz ok, er deckte mit nur einer Schicht, nutzte aber zwei Schichten auf meinem Ringfinger, um zu schauen, ob das Muster verschwinden würde, was aber doch nicht der Fall war :(.

Glitter Gal Lizard Belly or my favourite new green holo

I'm sure you've heard of the awesome Glitter Gal Holos before. One of their newer ones, Lizard Belly is soon becoming one of my favourite holos!
LB is a dark forest green linear holographic polish. The base of it is so opaque but this doesn't affect the holo effect in any way (unlike some holos I've frankened). Another thing I really love about this shade is that you barely see the silver holographic base in it- most holos are silver-based (might be due to the pigment) and it can be quite hard sometimes to eliminate it, especially with darker shades(please correct me if I'm wrong!). The holographic effect is still visible in lower lights, which is another plus.
Lizard Belly is opaque with two coats, the formula was really great but the wear was one of the best things! It lasted me a whole week without chipping or major tip-wear*. Not even Gosh Holo, the Nfu.Oh holos or any other holos I own have such a durability*!
I only have one little thing to complain about: I feel the handle was a bit to short to work with but hopefully that will change when Glitter Gal is releasing their full size bottles this year.

Ich bin mir sicher, dass ihr schon mal von den tollen Glitter Gal Holos gehört habts. Lizard Belly ist einer der neueren Lacke aus dem Repertoire von Glitter Gal und hat sozusagen schon einen Ehrenplatz bei mir.
LB ist ein dunkler forstgrüner holographischer Lack. Die Grundfarbe ist sehr deckend, aber das hindert den tollen holographischen Effekt nicht daran, durchzuscheinen. Was ich an der Farbe auch so toll finde, ist, dass man die silberne Basisfarbe fast nicht erkennen kann- die meisten holographischen Lacke haben eben die silberne Basisfarbe (ich vermute mal, dass es das Pigment ist) und es kann u.U. schwierig sein, dass zu unterbinden, besonders bei dünkleren Farben (habt Nachsicht, falls ich Blödsinn erzähle). Man sieht den holographischen Effekt bei diesem Lack auch in schlecht belichteten Gegenden.
Lizard Belly war mit zwei Schichten deckend, die Konsistenz war auch super, aber die Haltbarkeit war der Hammer! Er hat eine ganze Woche lang gehalten, ohne abzuplatzen oder das sich viel abgenutzt* hat. Nicht einmal Gosh Holographic, die Nfu.Oh Holos oder andere Holos haben es so lange durchgehalten, da es meist an der Abnutzung* beim Nagelweiß scheiterte.
Nur eine Kleinigkeit hätte ich noch auszusetzen: der Stiehl ist recht kurz, was beim Lackieren ein bisschen gestört hat, aber ich hoffe, dass sich das ändern wird, wenn Glitter Gal dann die größeren Flaschen dieses Jahr rausbringt.

Nubar Reclaim, at last!

This is a scheduled post, I'm gonna be away for this week...
Holo-lovers surely know this polish, but for those of you who haven't stumble upon this beauty, hope you'll enjoy it :)
Nubar Reclaim is a seafoam green with a "stronger" linear holo effect, which is similar to the ones from the OMG Collection by China Glaze. Probably not as strong as a Nfu.Oh Holo or Gosh Holographic but still pretty awesome.
The application was good, I used the Aqua Base (by Nfu.Oh) as my basecoat and Reclaim took two coats to be opaque. The wear was like a regular holo- not too good like a regular creme/jelly polish tough, but still looking ok after 2-3 days.

Holo-Liebhaber/innen  kennen den Lack sicherlich schon, aber die, die ihn noch nicht kennen, hoffe ich, dass ihr ihn genauso genießt wie ich, als ich ihn getragen habe :)
Nubar Reclaim ist ein hellgrün mit einem recht "starken" holographischen Effekt, welcher den Lacken aus der OMG Kollektion von China Glaze. Warscheinlich nicht so arg wie ein holograpcher Lack von Nfu.Oh oder Gosh Holographic, aber noch immer schön :)
Der Auftrag war gut, als Unterlack hab ich die Aqua Base (von Nfu.Oh) benutzt und Reclaim brauchte nur zwei Schichten, bis er deckte. Die Haltbarkeit war "typisch holo" -nicht so gut wie ein normaler Crème- oder Jellylack, aber immer noch halbwegs anschaulich nach 2-3 Tagen.

A glamorous Franken take two and A-England Tristam

This is another attempt to franken a dupe of the awesome OPI DS Glamour. That attempt wasn't as successful but its still really holo. Not 100% sure what I used but I think I used Nfu.Oh 61 (the good version! note to self, I should stop frankening with it because there are now two versions and the first one is better in my opinion) and Wet'n'Wild Nocturnal.
Anyway, I thought my franken was too plain on its own, so I added a-england Tristam to my manicure. All of them are named after the Excalibur-saga. The holo-effect of Tristam is not as pronounced as others, but still pretty because I really like the base color in it.
The application of both polishes was good as I used the Aqua Base as my base coat and both were opaque in two coats.


Das ist nun mein zweiter Versuch, OPI DS Glamour nachzufranken. Ist mir nicht wirklich gelungen, aber es ist immer noch ein sehr "starker" holographischer Effekt zu sehen, selbst im Schatten. Ich bin mir nicht 100%ig sicher, was ich genau benutzt hab, aber es ist ein Teil Nfu.Oh 61 (die gute Version, es gibt mittlerweile eine nicht so "holo-ige" Version, ich sollte echt aufhören, damit zu franken) und Wet'n'Wild Nocturnal.

China Glaze Fault Line

I thought HGiC was a bit boring on its own so I experimented a bit with a Crackle Glaze that China Glaze recently released. Fault Line is a purple crackle and some might not like it as much as the others because the crackle-pattern isn't as "good" as the others.
Anyway, I didn't paint it the way I usually do, instead of vertical brushstrokes, I did diagonal ones, forming an "X". It turned out pretty good, not the usual pattern and might experiment more with it in the future.

HGiC war mir ein bisschen fad  alleine, also hab ich ein bisschen mit den Crackle Glaze von China Glaze herumexperementiert. Fault Line is der lilane Crackle- manche mögen ihn vielleicht nicht so sehr wie die anderen, weil das Muster  nicht so ausgeprägt ist wie bei den anderen.
Naja, ich hab ihn auch nicht "wie immer" bepinselt (also nicht vertikale Pinselstriche), sondern diagonale Pinselstriche angewendet, die ein "X" formen. Kein konventionelles Muster, wies jeder kennt und ich werd sicherlich in Zukunft noch weiter mit verschiedenen "Pinselstrichen" herumexperementieren ;).

China Glaze He's Going in Circles

He's Going in Circles was one of China Glaze's awesome Kaleidoscope collection from a few years back. I bought it a few months ago and couldn't wait to use it. And the weather played along too :).
I used the Nfu.Oh Aqua Base/Gosh Fix Base as my basecoat but no topcoat this time. The formula was quite decent too, 2 coats till it was opaque.

He's Going in Circles ist einer der Lacke von der Kaleidoscope Kollektion, die vor ein paar Jahren rausgekommen ist. Ich hab ihn dann endlich gekauft und konnte es nicht erwarten, ihn zu benutzten und auch das Wetter hat mitgespielt :).

Für die Maniküre hab ich die Nfu.Oh Aqua Base/ Gosh Fix Base benutzt, was den Auftrag und Haltbarkeit des Lackes verlängert. Ich hab auch keinen Überlack benutzt und der Lack braucht nur zwei Schichten, bis er deckte. 

Die Haltbarkeit, ist, wie bei vielen Holo-Lacken, recht kurzlebig, aber mit folgendem "Layering" kann man noch 1,2 Tage den Lack länger dran Freude haben:

Unterlack , eine Schicht Aqua Base, Farblack, eine weitere Schicht Aqua Base und eine letzte Schicht vom Farblack. Die Trockenzeit kann man mit "Schnelltrocknertropfen" verkürzt werden, ich benutz sehr gerne das Spray (statt dem Pump-Mechanismus hab ich einfach eine Pipette reingetan) von P2, was es in Wien leider nicht mehr gibt.

How a simple basecoat can change your life

or the way you look at a polish ;). Some of you might wonder what todays title means. Well, it's about holos and a very very special base coat, one that makes the application as smooth as a Smoothie and streaky polishes opaque in two coats.
I'm talking about Nfu.Ohs Aqua Base/ Goshs Fix Base/ Make Up Stores Fix Base (i think thats what they call it, but I could be wrong). As I wrote before, it makes holo polishes a lot more fun, making the application a breeze, I'll get a longer wear and even makes a holo more holographic :o. Who'd pass up on that chance?

Long story short, I used the Aqua Base under the China Glaze Tronicas and boy, it was still is mindblowing. I know some might moan that the Tronicas aren't as prismatic as they expected and I was fully aware of that but I'm a holo-whore so I couldn't just pass on them even tough it was harder to get them.
The two I've used for my manicure are High Def and Techno Teal. HD is a gorgeous dark blue and in the bottle you'll only see a very sparse holo-effect and that'll only show on the bottle in direct sunlight. Painted over the AB and add sunlight *please imagine my head exploding because I didn't expect it at all!*- a rainbow on your nails. The same story with Techno Teal.
Ok, I'm not gonna bore you with more of my love letter to whoever invented the AQ, just that the application of both polishes were rather thick and opaque in two coats.

Nfu.Oh 65 and Siw

You might remember my little army of Nfu.Oh's I posted a few months back. I finally wore number 65 and am loving them more and more.
Make Up Store Siw is a light blue holo I got as an extra in a swap from a really sweet and generous swapper who lives in Sweden. Both the Nfu.Oh and Siw look really similar in the bottle so I decided to alternate the two. They are also apply practically the same over the Nfu.Oh Aqua Base (which I would strongly suggest if you want to keep your sanity while applying holographic polishes)

China Glaze Let's do it in 3D

Hey there :)

I was going through my folder with unpublished NOTD's and stumbled across this holo-polish. Let's do it in 3D is from China Glaze's Kaleidoscope Collection released a few years ago (not sure how long exactly, but I think it was from Spring 2008/9?). It is a stunning grey holo, with a scattered pattern. Let's do it in 3D looks best in direct sunlight and is truly mesmerizing.
I used two coats for full opacity and like all holos, I didn't had any problems with the formula or brush. And I didn't use a topcoat because some may dull the holo. The drying time was above average too which makes it even better.

An amazing swap and a breathtaking Nfu.Oh

My recent army of Nfu.Oh's left you all drooling, so here's the first one I used: number 52. I used Essence's Midnight Rocker as a base but the pictures turned out to be really bad, so I'll reswatch it. Midnight Rocker is one of Essence's new shades and is an almost black purple. It needed two coats to be opaque and I layered one coat of Nfu.Oh 52 over it. The Nfu.Oh flakies are stunning and I couldn't stop staring at my nails when I was wearing it.
I used different angles to show the different colors the flakies.

Skin Food Black Holo and α-Rainbow

As you might have noticed, that I haven't posted a lot in the past few weeks is because I am drowning in college work and I'm not sure when this work-load is going to end. I hope you understand that and I'll hopefully have more time to blog once I'm used to this semester's routine/schedule.

I got the two polishes I'm going to show you today from a sweet MUA'er in a swap. I'm slightly addiceted to find black/charcoal holos and have quite a few now.

Skin Food's Black Holo (that's what I call it, it has a number instead of a (proper) name and my bottle is MIA now) is a grey-almost black holo similar to Color Club's Revvvolution. It only needed two coats to be opaque. I really like the bottle design of it.  α (alpha)-Rainbow is a dark silver holo and was more sheer than Black Holo. It needed three coats to be opaque but the holo effect was stronger. I didn't put a topcoat on them.
Sadly, the camera washed out the holo effect, but you can see how it is in the bottle :)

A glamorous Franken

The first minute I saw pictures of OPI's DS Glamour, I knew, it had to be mine. Time passed, a lot of other polishes happened and I still am not *that* ready to buy it at the prices they offer it at the bay of evil. So I tried to franken one for myself. I used a drop of Wet'n'Wild Noctural- nah, too much green and then I used Essence's Deep Blue Sea (sadly, discontinued) and Glam Nails Rainbow, which I already raved about here.

And those two polishes mixed together was this:
 (I used two coats, no topcoat- it was even more holo than it shows in the pictures :D )

China Glaze Kaleidoscope him out and Milani Cyberspace

Hey there :)

So today I've got two stunning holos for you- China Glaze Kaleidoscope Him Out and Milani Cyberspace. KHO, sadly is discontinued and I think Cyberspace is their permanent line, but I could be wrong. Both are baby-blue holos, they have bigger glitter-like particals without being bumpy (it's hard to describe).

I used three coats on both polishes and didn't had any problems with the brush or their formula. Another great thing is, that they both dry really quick and I didn't use a topcoat. So can you spot the difference between the two polishes? I can't :) (you can write your guesses in the comments if you like )

I wanted to add something on my manicure, so I added some water decals I got in my sample pack from Viva la Nails.
