An Unhibited Glitter you say?

If you're wondering why I temporarily removed my blogroll: Please read this facebook status as it seems that there is a bug/malware virus floating around with the Blogroll gadget.

Today's manicure is a layering combo. Not sure how I feel about it, I think I just packed too much of it onto one nail.
For this mani I used Zoya Veruschka as my "base". I already wrote about it here and still love it- one coat, dries fast- as it has a matte finish- and this time no issues with the color itself because this time I didn't had a nail wrap on my nails. Veruschka was screaming for a little accent nail so I dug around in my stash and picked LA. Girl Unhibited. It is a black glitter topcoat, consisting small hex and plain black glitter.
The formula was ok, but can be a bit difficult if you don't dab you glitters on your nail as hex glitter can be a bit difficult to paint with. I used one coat on my ring finger.
Unhibited is probably best used over lighter colors, I love that Kirsten keeps using it for different layering combos :).
As if it isn't enough, I added a coat of a franken with the emerald green to violet color morphing powder. The last layer of it was probably the thing that made the accent nail so "meh".

Zoya Veruschka aka how a nail wrap can change the color

Veruschka is one of the polishes where I first thought "meh" when I saw swatches of it. But when I slowly began to be into greens, I was finally sold when I saw the swatches from Scrangie. I finally got my bottle from an sale at an internet forum and loved it from the moment I saw it in person.
Zoya Veruschka is a green matte polish, the finish is similar to OPI's Suede polishes. I mostly topcoat my matte polishes, I prefer it( the matte finish) only as an accent nail or some kind of pattern. Anyway, Veruschka was opaque with two coats and dried incredibly fast, like most matte polishes.

Here's a picture with a topcoat:

A few days later while I was on my way to a class I noticed a (quite big) difference on the nails where I had a silk/nail wrap (I'm sorry about the crappy picture quality, it was made while I was in the tram and didn't had a better opportunity to make a better one and I'm sorry about my pointer, I smudged it while it was drying and didn't want to repaint it).

(top to bottom: silk wrap(SW), no SW, SW, no SW)
I was really suprised to see how drastic the difference can be between the nails with or without a silkwrap. Did something similar happened to you too?

Essence Choose Me vs. Zoya Charla

Hey there :)

I know, you might have seen a lot of comparisons of these, but I did them quite a while ago and didn't have time to post them earlier.
Essence Choose Me was released this October due to the display change they do every spring&fall. I love that Essence has matching handles, makes it easier to locate the bottle in my drawer ;).
The formula & brush was good, but it took me 4 coats to be opaque. Zoya's Charla, on the other hand was opaque with ony two coats and looks a tad bluer in my eyes but a non-polish addict won't spot the difference. I didn't have a problem with Zoya's brush or fomula either. Somehow this polish looks mostly more green on me, a lot of other swatches show the blue-side of it.
A little waning: these two polishes will stain your nails, so don't forget a proper basecoat/ nail whitener.

My verdict: I really like both but due to the sheerness of Choose Me, I prefer Charla a bit more. I think I might franken with Choose Me, but have no idea yet (if you have suggestions, you can write them in the comments :) )

Zoya Charla.... wow

Hey there :)

So today's all about Zoya Charla. You might've seen and heard way to much of this polish. I finally got my own bottle and boy, it's a stunning color. It's a blue-green duochrome and looks really like a Mermaid's tail.
I used two coats and typical great Zoya quality- good formula and brush. Somehow it looked more green on me and the pictures shows that it is blue- the third picture shows it (the green side) quite well.

I've also added some decals from my Viva la Nails Sample Pack:

Zoya Mimi, the beginning of a love story?

Hey there :)

To shake things up a bit after the few H&M polishes, I'm going to show you Zoya Mimi from their Sparkles collection. As a purple lover, this surely was on my wishlist after seing the first swatches and boy, it really lived up to my expectations. I used two coats and added a little blue rhinestone-heart which was kindly sent to me to review from Viva la Nails. By the time I was finished with my manicure I was able to catch some sunlight, so enjoy the pictures :)

In honor of the "great" weather here: Gunmetal/black with silver shimmer comparisons

Hey there :)

The weather here was really crappy- windy, raining in the evening and cold as it'll be winter. *grr*
I did these swatches a while ago when  the weather was better than it is now and I had nubbins. The polishes I used are:
  • Nubar Dark Castle (one awesome coat)
  • Zoya Raven (2 coats)
  • H&M Moonless Night (also two coats)
  • Alessandro No.279 (Be a Star LE, 2 coats)
  • Artdeco* No. 133 (2 coats)
* Artdeco is a German cosmetics brand.
I applied them in the same order as I wrote above-I didn't had any problems with either of these polishes- neither with their consistency nor the brushes. But I have to admit I love the brushes from Nubar and Artdeco the most- great handle and a wider brush which is soft but not too soft that you get too much laquer on the surounding skin.
Here are some previous swatches of Dark Castle if you missed them.
The color: Raven is the darkest with the slightest shimmer of all of them, next would probably Artdeco, Nubar and H&M. The Alessandro one was the lightest and more a dark silver than a black with shimmer/gunmetal. They only had the silver shimmer and I have to say: I love them, I can't get enough of them and still keep buying them ^^.

(please excuse the pre-cleanup pics, it was just a quick swatch session)

Quick Post: Zoya Savita

Hey there :)

I'm only posting a short/quick post today because I'm quite tired and exhausted.

So here it is: Zoya Savita with a Topcoat, somehow I can't bear myself to wear it matte all the time. The pictures show two coats and I didn't had any issue with either the brush, formula or drying time. The last one was really good because like most mattes, it dries really quickly and I love to watch it dry ^^.

with flash, it shows the actual color pretty well

Konad-licious is having a giveaway with really great goodies, check it out here :)

Swap goodies& little holiday haul (pic heavy)

Hey :)

Here are the haul pics and swap goodies that I've promised you a few posts before. First, the swap goodies. I've arranged quite some swaps before I went to vacation and they all arrived when I came back- boy, it was like my birthday and christmas were on the same day :D

3 swaps over MUA, Peackock feathers is so stunning in person :D

And the other swap (by far the biggest package of goodies I've ever received: a swap with Brooke from Getcha Nails Did ! She sended along so many extras and so many sweets ( all already eaten ^^)

can you see the reflected holographic-shine of the 3 polishes on the floor? I love this effect...

Thank you so much Brooke for swapping, I love all the goodies you sent me.

And last but not least, the polishes I picked up when I was on vacation. I've never seen those little bottles of Revlon before. There are also two Vov polishes- it seems to be a Korean brand 'cause the label is written in Korean. And there was also an unnamed Mei-Linda polish, never heard of this brand before and it's actually a really dark purple jelly but my camera picked it up wrong.

Oh and i went shopping today and may found an dupe of the infamous Nfu.oh No.51 :D

Zoya Ibiza vs. Artdeco No. 44

Long time no post- I know....
It's just the last weeks that I've been quite busy and I can't stop working or learning because I've got an test-marathon next week and after that I'm going on vacation for about 3 weeks.

As you probably see on today's topic I'm comparing these two colours. It seemed like dupes in the bottle but Ibiza is darker. The application on both polishes were nice and I didn't had much problems (just my not so good-application). The pictures show 2 coats each, no Top-Coat.

Artdeco Number 133

Hey there

Here's a quick post about one of my favourite black Polishes: Artdeco No. 133. It's a black with silver shimmer in it and I've got it quite a while and didn't wear it( because I discovered China Glaze, OPI, and other great foreign polishes). So I though now's the best time to wear it. The application was great, I had no difficulties with them and both. I also did a comparison on my ring finger where I put Zoya Dovima Matte on it. They look a bit darker in real life and the pics shows some visible ridges that aren't there. The difference between the two of them isn't really noticable with a top coat.
(all pics are clickable)

(1coat- look how opaque both are :D )

(also 1 coat, a bit blurry- sorry about that)

(2 coats plus top coat)

(also 2 coats)

(a close up of the two different polishes with flash- here you can see that the tiny tiny glitter is different from each other- i love both polishes. If you click on this one it's a bit weird because the pic's really huge ^^

Haul+ NOTD+ Franken

Hey there :)

As I wrote in my previous post, today I'm gonna post about my haul wich includes the (quite hyped) Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat. I originally bought 10 polishes but only 9 arrived :(.

I let the pictures speak for itself ^^

A few weeks before I received my Haul-polishes I bought a quite cheap polish. When I was at home I thought- the bottle reminds me of something and then I did this picture:

The bottle of the first polish looks so much like the Zoya-polish bottles! And lastly there's OPI's My Private Jet- sadly (really dissapointing) it's not the old Holographic version :(

addition: my camera doesn't show the purple greatnes of the polishes( Opi Ink, Opi Ink Suede and my franken- they are great purple shades and if you own them yourself, you'll surely know what I'm talking about ^^ )

NOTD

Today's NOTD is Opi Ink from my haul. So here are the swatches:

You'll probably wonder why I wrote Franken as a topic title.
It's part of my NOTD because I'm actually wearing a Franken on my thumb-nail- I called it "Write with it!"(WWI) because it reminded me so much of Opi ink and I wanted to compare the two of them( my franken and Opi Ink). When I frankened WWI, I didn't had the intention of creating an Ink-Dupe- I just wanted a purple Holo and I added too much blue into it.

Here are some pictures of it:
